What happens when you combine two lifetimes of cylinder head research and development? The BTR CV cylinder head for LS! When you have a cylinder head casting legend like Rick Smith on board (Father of the Hi-Port, A460, Twisted Wedge and more!) and decades of Brian Tooley's porting & cylinder head flow bench experience, you end up with serious game-changing performance!

There’s no other low-cost premium cast all-American canted-valve LS cylinder head on the market! By rotating the intake 5° and exhaust 3°, we’ve seen over 360+ CFM of intake flow… at only .650” lift with our in-house port program! We put NASCAR-proven canted valve tech into the LS head and made it attainable. These heads use regular Gen 3 & 4 LS1 pedestal type rockers & bolts, valve covers & manifolding… and use Gen V LT valves, spark plugs and valve spring packages to make building them out EASY with OEM-compatible parts! If you have a street machine or a racing class that allows a canted valve head, this is the advantage you’ve been waiting for.

This cylinder head ships partially machined with finished valve guides and unfinished valve seats installed for cylinder head porters to customize for their application. Valves, springs & valve spring hardware are not included. Final port sizing, chamber sizing, decking and other parameters are at the cylinder head builders’ discretion.

 

  • BTR exclusive canted-valve design allows for maximum valve unshrouding and sizing - Cathedral fits a 3.780" bore, LS3 style fits a 3.820" bore!
  • 11° intake (5° canted) and 13° exhaust (3° canted)
  • Cast in Iowa - Designed, tested, machined & sold in Kentucky!
  • Intake flow - Over 360 CFM at .650” when used with BTR’s port program!
  • Uses OEM LT1 2.125” steel hollow-stem intake and 1.590” steel exhaust valves
  • LT4 Ti intake and L8T Inconel™ exhaust valves can also be used with lash caps
  • Superior OEM-type powdered metal guides
  • Utilizes OEM-style straight LS1 pedestal rockers, OEM-style intake & exhaust manifolds, and LS-style valve covers
  • Uses Gen V LT style long reach spark plugs and valve spring kits up to 1.350” O.D. spring
  • Clears 3/8” pushrods – Typical length intake 7.925-8.025” & exhaust 7.900-8.000”
  • Extra-thick .750” boost-friendly deck in popular “6-bolt” configuration

INSTALLATION NOTESThese are porter’s castings and are not intended for out of box use. Extra material (.100”+)  will need to be removed from chambers and runners to final port & chamber shape. Finished deck milling will be required. Valve seat cutting & finishing required. Uses LS1 rocker bolts. M10x1.5 Accessory hole commonly used for dipstick is shallower than OEM to prevent water jacket intrusion, please check your dipstick bolt prior to final assembly. Like many aftermarket heads, a sealant will be required on intake rocker bolt threads that intersect the port. ALWAYS VERIFY NEVER ASSUME all engine clearances before final assembly.
